LOS ANGELES -- Police flooded Los Angeles with drawings and descriptions of the suspects in the Dodger Stadium beating of Bryan Stow, including new billboards put up just last week. They took in hundreds of tips.
But it was a lead from inside law enforcement that led them to the man they say was the main aggressor in the grisly beating.
A tip from a parole officer late last week gave detectives the break they'd sought for seven weeks, and on Sunday they arrested 31-year-old Giovanni Ramirez, the key suspect in the attack on Stow, a San
Francisco Giants fan brutalized in the parking lot after the rival teams' season opener on March 31.
Ramirez was detained in an early morning raid by detectives and SWAT team members with a search warrant for an East Hollywood apartment building in what Police Chief Charlie Beck called a "huge step" in the investigation.

Ramirez is going to have to pay for this. When you show off and let your passion for the sport carry you away to a place where fifth graders go, the punishment is much more severe than detention. This is assuming you were the perpetrator Giovanni Ramirez, but if you were then shame on you! How could you do something like this? Why would you do something like this? You have changed/ruined this man’s life because why? He was wearing a jersey for the opposing team? Did he taunt you and your friends? Did he make a slur against your beloved team? Who cares? Is it worth putting him in a coma for weeks with the risk that he may never talk or walk or laugh again? For a moment in time, you were a warrior. You were feared as the passersby at first watched you pummel Bryan Stow and then watched as you almost killed him. You were the big man at the stadium, and you were high on your own adrenaline and testosterone as each punch you threw found its mark and made mush of Mr. Stow’s brain, face and body. How do you feel now Mr. Ramirez? You may very well have ruined both of your lives that fateful day in front of Dodgers Stadium. Funny how the dumb decisions we make, continue to rub salt in our wounds long after those wounds have healed. I hope the legal system in L.A. is fair and kind to you and shows you more consideration than you were able to this poor San Francisco fan. I also hope they put you in a cell and throw away the key. It’s clear I’m conflicted; maybe I’ll go punch something!
