A 36-year-old pregnant woman died Thursday morning, Xinhua reports, nearly 15 days after the same virus registered its first fatality.
Earlier this month, another woman died due to the still unknown virus, South Korea's Yonhap News Agency reported. She was also pregnant when first hospitalized.
The government quickly quelled fears about the virus earlier this month, saying it was unlikely to spread. At least eight people in all are said to be affected by the virus. Though the vast majority are women, a 40-year-old man was also infected, per CNN.
Symptoms for the mystery virus have included cold or flu-like symptoms, cough and difficulty breathing, according to TIME.

OK. I know I can be a little skittish when it comes to countries that hate the United States and by proxy our allies. Did anyone consider the possibility that this is not a simple virus? Has anyone looked to the north and its chemical weapons program? I’m just sayin. . . . . . . What better way to destroy a country than to inhibit its population from bearing its children. I don’t want to get all Dr. Evil on you here, but really? A virus that only infects pregnant women? I’m no Austin Powers but this seems suspect to me.
